The late Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, is suing Dr. Conrad Murray for the wrongful death of his son, and to compensate him for the loss of MJ's support.

He's seeking the modest sum of half a billion dollars.

Joe says the sum is within "the realistic range of provable damages," broken down as 20 percent for loss of support, 40 percent for emotional distress and the other 40 percent for "loss of comfort, aid, society and companionship."

GRIEVING DAD: Joe Jackson is crushed by the lack of comfort he feels with Michael gone. He used to beat his "companion" so hard. There's such a void now.

For his part, Dr. Conrad Murray says he's currently broke and can't settle a lawsuit in any way because his insurance company refuses to cover him. He also says he won't sit for a court deposition until after his criminal case runs its course.

Murray faces involuntary manslaughter charges in MJ's death. Being deposed as part of a civil lawsuit would violate his Fifth Amendment privileges.

Nevertheless, Joe's lawyer, Brian Oxman, says he's prepared to take the depositions of "more than 60 people" who have info regarding MJ's death.

As for the absurd, impossible sum he's suing for, Joe said in an interview with GOOM Radio: "The more you go, the less you get ... so I went high."

Makes perfect sense.

Murray is looking to quash Joe's lawsuit altogether, dismissing his claims as "pure hearsay" and utter nonsense. We'll see if he's successful there.

His criminal defense is likely to be that Michael killed himself with Propofol while Murray had left the room. That trial will likely begin next year.

Solidifying their love for one another by exchanging vows, Katy Perry and Russell Brand tied the knot in India on Saturday (October 23).

With nearly eighty guests watching on, the "Hot N Cold" singer and her comedian actor beau said their "I Do's" at the swanky Aman-i-Khas resort in Rajasthan.

Having gotten engaged at the same locale this past December, Miss Perry is said to have worn a stylish Elie Saab gown with the ceremony including a camel-powered wedding car.

A statement released by the couple told that Katy and Russell "were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23. The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couples' closest family and friends was performed by a Christian minister and longtime friend of the Hudson Family. The backdrop was the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India."

Previously talking with the NY Times about getting married, Brand said, "We just love each other and we want to get married in front of our friends and family and keep it very normal. It ain't about selling the pictures, it ain't about doing no pre-nup, it's just a normal thing."

He continued, "I'm trying to preserve it, to keep it a beautiful thing. I think people get the wrong idea on how we want the wedding to play out. Love between two people is the most spectacular, yet ordinary thing in the world."

"It was hard for her to come in since there was a pre-existing relationship between everyone," Salsano said. "There was literally no shortage of drama."

With the season two finale of her hit show having aired on Thursday night (October 21), Jenni "JWoww" Farley took time to chat with MTV about the latest happenings on "Jersey Shore".

The brunette beauty, who recently announced that she's opted to pass on a Playboy offer, spoke about everything from frog leg throw-up rumors to the backyard cat.

Asked if she really puked after she ate frogs' legs, JWoww told, "No! I had to step outside to breathe. They looked like frogs. When you think of frogs' legs it's like, 'all right,' but as you can see [they] were frogs and the smell was ..."

Miss Farley was then questioned about the deal with the backyard cat, to which she responded, "Oh, Pickles! Our baby that we fed every day. Me and Nicole actually went shopping once a week and got cat food. There was, like, two or three, but Pickles and Tiger were our favorites. They were strays that we took care of. Once, Pickles came into our house and came into our bedroom. It was kind of creepy, but I love animals and so does Nicole. We always made sure they were taken care of."

Meanwhile, fans can look forward to a third season of the guidos and guidettes, as MTV announced plans for another run of episodes of the popular show which is slated to begin airing on January 6, 2011.

The world's worst band is playing at a neighborhood fest/farmer's market one block from my apartment, but they're so loud that it sounds like they're playing right outside my window. I just ventured out so I could see what they look like and take a picture to show you, but as it turns out they're a group of down-on-their-luck teenagers playing plastic buckets and ginormous metal bazookas (which looks like trombones but aren't), so I felt bad and didn't do so.

But you know, this leads me to something. You want to encourage these kids and be like, "Keep playing your music! You can do it!" But at what point do you tell them they're awful? I mean, the neighborhood is suffering because of the noise. I have my TV turned up all the way to drown them out.

It reminds me of when I played the flute in the fourth grade school band. I thought we were amazing but then we had a concert. Afterward, when I asked my step-dad how we were, he laughed and said, "You sounded like the Charlie Brown school band." I was eight or nine years old at the time, but I was old enough to be told I sucked. I remember not caring. These kids are teenagers... I think it's time someone encouraged them to find another career path because this jam-band thing isn't working out.

(Btw, I couldn't find a clip of the Peanuts gang school band to show you, but you know what I'm talking about, right? They were horrible.)

Tyler Perry Tells Oprah: I Was Sexually Abused as a Child

Tyler Perry suffered so much physical, sexual and emotional abuse growing up that he tried to kill himself, but he eventually found the inner strength to overcome his harrowing childhood and even forgive his perpetrators, he said on Wednesday's The Oprah Winfrey Show.

The successful actor, writer, director and movie studio owner, whose film For Colored Girls opens Nov. 5 and who is listed among the most wealthy celebrities, told Winfrey that he is speaking out now in an effort to lift the shame for men who've endured similar abuse.

Perry, 41, said his childhood in New Orleans was "a living hell," and recounted repeated verbal assaults and physical beatings from his father. "He hated me so much, and I couldn't understand why," Perry said.

Perry said he was also sexually assaulted at age 5 or 6 by a neighbor and then by a male nurse in a hospital, by a man in church "who used God and the bible against me" and later by the mother of a friend. "Predators know when a child is an easy mark," he said.

What got him through, he said, was an ability to "leave myself" and take his mind to a park until the abuse ended. That strategy usually worked except for one particularly horrendous beating from his father, which he said caused him to black out for three days. "I think I died that day," he said of his emotional state and he later slit his wrists.

His mother, whom Perry said also was abused by his father, was too passive to help. "She did not have that backbone to stand up for herself, so certainly she couldn't stand up for me," he said. Still, she was his "saving grace" because she took him to church and helped him find faith. She died last year.

As a result of the repeated abuse, Perry became violent, he said, burning down a house and a car, stealing and being kicked out of school. He also had intimacy and sexual problems.

But his life started to turn around when he was 28, he said, when he finally confronted his father on the phone and told him how the abuse affected him. He was then able to gain the realization that "even though those things happened to me, it was not me," he said.

Perry said his father felt no remorse and even implied that the beatings were helpful. But Perry forgave him anyway, saying, "The same strength that it took to take it is the same amount of strength that it takes to let it go." Perry continues to financially support his father because, "My mother always said honor your father and mother," but he doesn't care about seeing or hearing from him again.

The filmmaker said that he wasn't able to reveal the extent of his abuse until after his mother died, but that now, "I feel this tremendous sense of now it's the time to take care of me."

I've mentioned this before, but my mom volunteers at Save-A-Pet, a no-kill animal shelter in Illinois. Like many charities, they're currently having financial difficulties and might have to close their doors unless they receive more donations. Here's a link to a message regarding their financial situation.

If you can donate anything—even just one dollar—it would be greatly appreciated. They've been around for almost 40 years and are currently home to almost 300 animals. Here are some photos I took last time I was there:

Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda have broken up.

The split took place several months ago, in fact, sources report, although the often controversial actor's camp had no comment on his most recent breakup.

The two are parents to a son Henry Tadeusz Farrel, who was born last year around this time. Farrell also has a 7-year-old son, James, with Kim Bordenave.

Colicja had a nice run, but all good things must end.

Alicja Bachleda and Colin Farrell met on the set of last year's Ondine, which they costarred in. One thing led to another, and their love child was conceived.

"We were very professional and focused on our part and our jobs," Alicja Bachleda said at the time. "The story itself is beautiful ... true emotions [on screen]."

Justin Bieber Has an Alter Ego! Which Other Stars Could Use One?

On Wednesday evening, Justin Bieber introduced the world to a new young rapper named Shawty Mane (see video below). Shawty Mane is the Clark Kent to Bieber's Superman: a version of the pop star with wide-rimmed glasses and a whole different attitude. Yes, like many music superstars before him, Justin Bieber has created an alter ego.

Why do so many high-profile stars create alter egos for themselves? Maybe it's a safe way to change your image without isolating your hardcore fans. Beyonce became Sasha Fierce to get in touch with her sexy side; country star Garth Brooks released a rock n' roll album as Chris Gaines; Christina Aguilera shed her teenybopper image when she became Xtina.

Despite the inclusion of this event in the lives of Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman, the couple is splitting up. Two days after their separation went public, the singer has cited "irreconcilable differences" and filed for divorce from her husband of six years.

The couple reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement, as the divorce petition reads: "Earnings and accumulations of [Aguilera] before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation" will be considered separate property.

Aguilera is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple's two-year old son Max. In her statement this week, the singer wrote:

"Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever."

Kristen Stewart is like a herd of cats... but in a good way!

So says Jake Scott, the director of Welcome to the Rileys, an upcoming drama in which the Twilight Saga star portrays a downtrodden stripper. Asked about working with the actress by E! News, Scott replied:

"She's very vulpine - very wolfish - and wily, kind of twitchy. Directing her is kind of like wrangling a herd of cats."

Bella who?!? Kristen Stewart expands her resume in Welcome to the Rileys.

It sounds like the director means this in a complimentary manner, though, as he continued:

"[Kristen]'s been playing this same character in - what? - two or three movies now, and that frustrates her. She wants to be taken seriously as an actress... she's very proud of her work in this movie."

The film centers around a couple, played by James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo, who has lost their daughter. In an attempt to recover from this pain, Gandolfini's character befriends Stewart's Mallory and attempts to turn her life around.

Katherine Heigl Explains Why She Was Talking to Police in Her Bikini

Police officers showed up at the L.A. home of Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley on Monday night, and the couple answered the door ... dressed in bathing suits. A video surfaced of the bizarre event, and though there's not much audio, there's a clear shot of a serious-looking Heigl chatting with the cops in a very teeny bikini.

RadarOnline reports that the officers were responding to a noise complaint, but several questions were left unanswered: Were they having a party? Do they always wear swimsuits in the house?

So, we went straight to Heigl herself to get the scoop. Here's what the Life as We Know It star, 31, had to say exclusively to iVillage:

We don’t really do anything that scandalous or that exciting, so the fact that we’re out talking to the cops in our bathing suits on a Monday night just cracks me up. We were hanging out at home just the two of us. We made ourselves some cocktails, and I had specifically worn a sexier bikini than I normally would because I hadn’t seen (Josh) in two weeks.

We were just chillin' in the hot tub, and my neighbor started screaming at us (to be quiet). He's done it like four times before, and it was so infuriating because it was 9 o’clock at night and we were not shouting -- just two people quietly talking and hanging out. I called my security and asked them to call the cops because at the end of the day, it's harassment at this point.

The cops showed up. We don’t put a towel on, we don’t put a robe on, we just go out there to chat about this neighbor we can’t stand in our bathing suits and my boobs look ridiculous! I just love it because it’s the only scandalous, interesting thing that we’ve ever had to talk about.

We can totally relate to the annoying neighbor situation, Katherine. We just wish we looked that great in a bikini!
